RARE STYLE BOX!

Ordinarily, the Single Thread Embroidery Attachment
comes with a box that looks like this...
 


...but this one even has the word ‘Style-O-Matic’ stamped on the box... interesting, isn’t it!? Well, to add to that irony is that in a particular edition of the Machine Sewing Book, the Single Thread Embroidery Attachment is referred to as a ‘Style-O-Matic.  It is unknown as to why Singer labeled this attachment as such, because there is a bona fide ‘Style-O-Matic’ Attachment (from the early 1930’s) as well as a 1960’s Singer 328 Sewing Machine Model given the same label.

Singer Single Thread Embroidery Attachment #26538 for SINGER Lock-Stitch Family Sewing Machines.... As you can see below, this does work on a Featherweight 221, 221K or 222K, but will also fit the 15, 66, 99, 101, 115, 127, 128, 185, 192, 201, and 1200 as well as the 319 and 328 Singer Machines.





With a little patience and maneuvering into correct position along with following the directions carefully, slowly and precisely . . . you, too, will be able to do beautiful embellishments on your artistic sewing projects. Stamped designs or other figures can be easily followed and a very attractive ornamentation produced.



Mounting the spool wire to the top of your machine allows for an additional color of thread (or the same color - whatever you prefer).

In the process of helping a friend with her attachment, my husband discovered that there is a small thing you can do to help preserve the life of your special attachment.  Do you see the fork arm in the ‘down’ position above? See how the pressure on the back of the arm is released from the u-shaped spring steel piece when the fork-arm is raised up?  That u-shaped piece is key to the attachment functioning properly.  Unfortunately, if not properly cared for, it is one of the first parts to break and is often seen missing on these old attachments. Storing your embroidery attachment with the fork-arm in the ‘up’ position will help to alleviate stress on the crucial part.

Attachment should be stored like this, with the fork arm ‘up’... and preferably with some cushion or padding added to help protect the u-shaped spring at the back.









Attachment has been cleaned, oiled and tested... completely ready for your use. I also left thread in the unit so you could have a visual demonstration for threading appropriately.




See the red frilly stitched sample in the photograph above?  That is the original sample made by SINGER.

As with most attachments, if you are unfamiliar with it, you will need a lot of practice all the while following the directions carefully, slowly and precisely.
