Singer Featherweight Replacement Black V-Belt
NEW! Black Replica Belt
Just Like the Original Featherweight 221 & 222 Belts
Part No. 194144-001
$8.95

Reproduction superior-quality soft and pliable belt for the Singer Featherweight 221 and 222K Sewing Machine. Sometimes called the V-shaped belt, this is a replica part #194144. My husband and I have done numerous tests on various reproduction belts and most of them are poor quality despite their nice appearance. They have a 'plastic' feel to them and are quite frankly too thick, stiff and often-times will just spin on the pulley.  In many cases, the poorer quality new belts will be so slick that they won’t even allow the bobbin winder to spin properly

Singer Featherweight Replacement Black V-Belt

With that said, we have found a superior quality belt that not only looks and feels more like an original but spins the pulley properly.  Please let us know what you think as well ~ we encourage you to e-mail us with your results.

However, before you get excited about there finally being a good replacement belt available... a lot of the vintage original belts are still going strong and may not need replacing at all. So, definitely check your belt carefully.

How to Replace and Install
the Featherweight Belt

To replace and install the belt you will need to raise the motor up. To raise it, there is a screw on the back of the motor housing (seen from the front of the machine at the right side, behind the hull). Standing over the machine, with an appropriately-sized screwdriver in your right hand and your left hand holding the motor (you're leaning over the machine); you'll unscrew the screw just slightly and adjust your motor up a little bit so that it can loosen your current belt all the way. Remove the belt from around the motor pulley and handwheel and replace it with the new belt in the same manner, making sure that it is tucked into the correct position into the handwheel.

Lower your motor and tighten the screw on the motor housing bracket. You want your belt as loose as possible yet still have the ability to turn the motor pulley and handwheel when you step on the foot controller. (This is best tested with fabric actually under the presser foot.) If the belt is too loose; it will slip and the motor pulley will just spin and your fabric will not feed. If the belt is too tight, it will put unnecessary strain on the motor.

If you want to protect the finish on your machine; place a soft cloth between the screwdriver and the machine's hull or you can scratch the finish by trying to access that oddly-placed screw on the motor housing bracket.

NEW! Replacement Motor Brushes & Springs
for Singer Featherweight 221 & 222 Motor

$13.95 for a Set of 2

Rarely will you need to replace the motor brushes, but should the need arise, you will want to replace both of them for motor balance. Also, be extra careful unscrewing your motor caps if they are the original Bakelite screws. Use a proper-sized screwdriver and carefully turn the screwdriver without applying too much force, otherwise they can crack and break easily. Of course, should this happen, we have replacements available.
