Singer Blind Stitcher Attachment #160616
SINGER BLIND-STITCH ATTACHMENT #160616
(aka:  The Rick Rack Attachment)
$54.95

I cannot even tell you how excited I was to tinker with this little Singer gadget and get it to do what I've seen so easily illustrated in some of my Singer Sewing Books.

And, yes... this attachment really is for a straight-stitch machine.

Not only is the Rick Rack "Blind-Stitched", but the hem is as well! I just love this thing!

Yes, that's right, a Blind Stitch Attachment did that in the photos above and below. This item has been tested - it will fit and will work properly on your Singer Featherweight 221 and / or your 222K Sewing Machine (as well as any other low, vertical shank Singer - i.e. 15, 66, 99, 127, 128, 185, 192, 201, 221, 222)

This Attachment will, of course, do your traditional blind stitching and hemming without the tediousness of doing it by hand... but it also has the ability to add a little fun to your sewing through the embellishment of rick rack!

This is my most prized rick rack possession. The epitome of 1930's green all wrapped into my favorite embellishment. This is the rick rack that I savor and get giddy just looking at. Is takes a very special project to be worthy of my wavy green gem. As selfish as it may sound, it is the rick rack that I hold tightly to and want to last a lifetime. After all, it is genuinely vintage and I have never seen this color in the Wright's section, have you? All that said... it was the only color that really accented this fabric like I wanted, so I rationalized for the joy of using it for a Singer Blind Stitcher sample ~ isn't it just luscious!?

Rick rack, rick rack.... "Everything looks better with rick rack", to quote a close friend of mine. Honestly, I have a rick rack collection and I can never have enough, no matter the color. I prefer cotton, but it does take more ironing. You can't find cotton rick rack in the national chain fabric stores.

You can see below a photo of a dress I sewed for my daughter which has rick rack ALL the way around it - it's just a darling touch and completely "makes the dress". I do have plenty of ironing with it being cotton, but certainly worth it every time!

By following the directions I will include and adjusting your stitch regulator "just right" so as to follow the waves in the rick rack, your hemming will take on a whole new meaning. So, get your rick rack and fabric swatches ready!

I've included several photos of this special process, and I used dark thread on the yellow fabric, so you could see where I stitched. Ordinarily, you would use a fabric-colored thread like is shown in the pink fabric/cream rick rack photograph above.

Granted, if you are unfamiliar with this attachment, it takes a LOT of practice and you will need to follow the directions carefully, slowly and precisely.
